On December 6, 2014, over 60 Saracens players and alumni celebrated the 2014 season at Hillspring Farm in Franklin, Qc. Catering for the dinner was done by Grace McClintock of Le Riverain restaurant. DJ Kadillac supplied some great tunes for the party.
This season the Saracens had 1 senior women’s team, 2 senior men’s teams, a U18 girls’ team, a U18 boys’ team, a U16 boys’ team, a U14 boys’ team, as well as a mini rugby program for players under 12 years old. The Lady Saracens (senior women) won the Division 1 season and Championship for the second straight year, as well as the John Jones 7s tournament, and the Quebec 7s season (all divisions). The U18 boys also played in the finals for their age group, but lost their match.

This year, the Hall of Fame inductees were Marie-Claude Montcalm and Mike Helm. Doug Murdoch, Saracen old boy and past women’s coach, spoke at length about Marie-Claude, who he first coached at Ecole Arthur-Pigeon in Huntingdon. Marie-Claude is also the first woman inducted into the Saracens Hall of Fame. Unfortunately Mike Helm was unable to attend, but a presentation will take place in the new year.
A new, updated Hall of Fame plaque was also presented during the banquet, as well as an updated Presidents Plaque, to be displayed in the clubhouse.
Thank you to Studio Tolhurst for the beautiful mugs and engraving work.
As always, indoor practices will commence after the holidays. The Saracens are also always recruiting, no matter your age (mini, junior or senior) – we would like to have you!
