OSRFC 2019 Wrap Up

The Ormstown Saracens had a busy, and eventful 47th year! With seven youth teams, and two senior teams, the club was all over Quebec, and Ontario, on any given weekend of the summer.

Our minis had another great year, with more than 100 players ranging from the age categories U7 to U13. Our teams participated in eight jamborees hosted across Quebec. On July 21st we hosted our annual jamboree and corn roast at CVR, with more than 200 players attending.

In terms of the juniors age category, our club broke many records. Firstly, the U15 girls had a full team, and participated in six 7s tournaments across Quebec. The girls finished in second place, falling short in a hard-fought final to the Saints. The team was made of a mix of CVR, and HSB rugby players, not only will they be wrapping up the season with a good couple of wins, but also with long lasting friendships, which is what rugby is all about! The U17 girls also filled their own team this summer, with a total of eleven girls. Participating in 6 tournaments, held throughout the province, and Ontario. The Ormstown junior girls hosted a provincial tournament on July 28th, which was a display of great rugby. The U17 junior boys also had an exciting season, of both 7s tournaments, and 15s games. On Monday July 15th at CVR, the Saracens hosted the rugby school Abraham Darby, from England, for a brilliant game of 15s.

Both the men and women’s teams this summer moved up divisions. The men played in division two, while the women moved to division one. Both teams faced new challenges, and tougher opponents. The Nomstown women (Ormstown and Laval combined), and the men both respectively closed the season with a 2-8 record. While it was not the perfect ending, fun was still had, and both teams are excited to start indoor training in April.

Good luck to our fellow Lady Saracens, Jess Lapenna, Olivia de Wit-Huissteden, and Erika Scott in their fall 15s season at Bishop’s Univeristy, and all our Cegep and High School athletes as well.

The sport of rugby is not only growing in our nation, or province, but even more so here at home.

See you next summer!
